Terms of Use
Effective date: 08 June 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account on Uwazi or using any part of the Uwazi platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the platform.
These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Uwazi. We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
2. Description of service
Uwazi is a project management platform designed for freelance designers and small design studios. It allows designers to manage client relationships, create and send proposals and agreements, share design work, and give clients access to a professional project portal — all in one place.
Uwazi is provided as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform accessible via uwazi.net. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with reasonable notice where possible.
3. Account registration and responsibilities
To use Uwazi, you must register for an account using a valid email address and a password. You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate and up-to-date account information
- Keeping your password secure and confidential
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us immediately at info@uwazi.net if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their explicit consent, or use automated means to create accounts.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use Uwazi only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You must not:
- Use the platform to transmit content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform or its infrastructure
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the platform
- Use the platform to send unsolicited communications to your clients
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the platform
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercialize access to the platform without written permission
- Upload files containing malicious code, viruses, or any software intended to cause harm
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms, at our sole discretion.
5. Client data
As a designer using Uwazi, you may enter personal information about your clients — including names, email addresses, and project details. You are solely responsible for:
- Ensuring you have the legal right and appropriate basis to store and process your clients' personal data
- Informing your clients about how their data is used, where required by applicable law
- Complying with any data protection obligations that apply to your business or jurisdiction
Uwazi processes client data on your behalf as a data processor. We do not use your clients' data for any purpose other than providing the service to you. For details on how we handle data, see our Privacy Policy at uwazi.net/privacy.
6. Subscription and billing
Uwazi offers two subscription tiers: Solo Starter (free) and Freelancer Pro (paid).
All paid subscriptions are billed in Egyptian Pounds (EGP). Payment is processed manually — there is no automated billing system. You will receive payment instructions upon upgrading. Your account is activated within 24 hours of payment confirmation.
Freelancer Pro is priced at EGP 300 per month. Designers who subscribe during the early access period may qualify for a discounted rate of EGP 200 per month, locked for the lifetime of the subscription provided it does not lapse.
Your subscription covers one calendar month from the activation date. If payment is not received by the end of your billing period, your account will revert to the free tier immediately, with no grace period. Early access pricing is permanently lost upon lapse and cannot be recovered upon resubscription.
We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable advance notice. Price changes will not affect active subscriptions during their current billing period.
7. Free tier limitations
The Solo Starter plan is available at no cost and includes the core features of Uwazi with the following limitations:
- Maximum of 2 clients
- Maximum of 1 project per client
These limits are enforced at the platform level. When a limit is reached, you will be prompted to upgrade to Freelancer Pro to continue creating additional clients or projects. Existing data on the free tier is not deleted when limits are reached.
8. Termination and data retention
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon deletion:
- Your account and all associated data will be retained for 30 days, during which restoration is possible by contacting us at info@uwazi.net
- After 30 days, your data will be permanently and irreversibly deleted from our systems
- You will receive a confirmation email at the time of deletion stating this retention window
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we are required to do so by law. In cases of termination by Uwazi for cause, we will notify you at your registered email address.
On subscription lapse or downgrade:
- Your data is not immediately deleted
- Access is restricted to the free tier limits (last 2 created clients, last 1 project per client)
- Restricted data is archived for 30 days
- If you resubscribe within 30 days, all archived data is restored
- After 30 days, archived data becomes eligible for permanent deletion
9. Intellectual property
Uwazi's intellectual property: The Uwazi platform, including its design, code, branding, and all associated materials, is owned by Uwazi and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the platform without written permission.
Your content: You retain full ownership of all content you create on Uwazi — including proposals, agreements, project details, and any files you upload. By using the platform, you grant Uwazi a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.
We do not claim ownership of your content and will not use it for any purpose beyond operating and improving the platform.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Uwazi is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied
- We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of business opportunity
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Uwazi shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Egyptian law.
11. Governing law
These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or your use of Uwazi shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Egypt.
If you are accessing Uwazi from outside Egypt, you do so at your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws to the extent they apply.
12. Changes to terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time to reflect changes in the platform, our business, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email at your registered address at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
The effective date at the top of this page reflects when the current version came into force. Continued use of the platform after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
If you do not agree to the updated terms, you may delete your account before the changes take effect.
